How Same-Day Implants Work
Same-day implants require that the jawbone at the implant site is dense enough and healthy enough to provide immediate stability for the titanium post. When those conditions are met, the implant is placed and a temporary crown or bridge is attached on the same visit. The implant still undergoes osseointegration, the process by which the titanium fuses with surrounding bone, over the following weeks and months. The permanent restoration is placed once integration is complete.
The approach works particularly well for patients replacing a tooth that has just been extracted. In those cases the implant is placed directly into the fresh extraction socket, taking advantage of the existing bone structure before resorption can occur.
Who Is a Candidate

Same-Day Implants for Full Arch Replacement
For patients who are missing all or most of their teeth, the same-day concept can be applied to a full arch. Four to six implants are placed strategically in the available bone and a full-arch provisional prosthesis is attached immediately. This is often referred to as All-on-4 or teeth-in-a-day and allows patients who have been living with dentures or extensive tooth loss to walk out with a fixed, non-removable set of teeth on the day of surgery.
